Howe man faces meth charges

A Howe man was arrested Monday after police found a meth lab and ingredients at his home.

Joseph A. Trushel, 48, was preliminarily charged with a Class B felony manufacturing methamphetamine count, and charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of precursors – both Class D felonies.

Officers went to Trushel's rural Howe home around 3:30 p.m. to speak with him, and as they knocked on his door, Trushel reportedly ran out the back door, according to a release from Sgt. Ron Galaviz of the Indiana State Police.

Officers chased Trushel down, and found meth-making paraphernalia scattered along the path he fled, Galaviz wrote.

Work is set to begin Monday to replace boardwalk decking on two sections of the Greenway.

Beneath the Bluffton Road Bridge on the St. Marys Pathway, and just east of Pemberton Drive on the Maumee Pathway, crews will try to replace the old decking with a fresh, durable vinyl that has a non-slip surface.

The sections will be closed 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays, with the project set to run through June 26.
