The death of an Allen County woman found dead in her home Sunday has been ruled a homicide.
Kasondra L. Harvey, 44, died of gunshot wound(s), according to the Allen County Coroner's office.
Harvey's body was found just after 11 a.m. at her home at 8613 U.S. 27, south of Fort Wayne. Allen County police officers and paramedics responded to a shooting call from a family member who found the woman.
Sgt. Steve Stone, a sheriff's department spokesman, said the family member had gone to the woman's home to check on her because she hadn't shown up for work. Stone said Harvey's body had not been discovered for “real long,” but would not release further details.
Stone would not say where Harvey's body was found in the home.
Stone said the department is treating the case like a homicide investigation.
No motive for the shooting has been established, Stone said, and police have no suspects or leads at this point.
Harvey's death marks the seventh homicide in Allen County in 2010. The previous six all took place within Fort Wayne city limits.
It also is the first homicide county police have worked since 2007.
Harvey had three theft convictions out of Allen County in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Indiana Department of Correction records show. She was released from prison in 1991.
